In Treatment of Depression Amitar Forte Tablet works by affecting the balance of certain chemicals (such as serotonin) in the brain. It helps improve mood and feelings of wellbeing, relieve anxiety and tension, helps you sleep better, and increase your energy level. It is an effective antidepressant but may cause drowsiness. You need to take it regularly as it is prescribed for it to be most effective and should not stop taking it suddenly.

How to use

How it works
Amitar Forte Tablet is a combination of two medicines: Amitriptyline and Chlordiazepoxide, which treats depression. Amitriptyline is a tricyclic antidepressant which increases the levels of chemical messengers in the brain that help in regulating the mood and treat depression. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine (BZD) which works by increasing the action of GABA, a chemical messenger which suppresses the abnormal and excessive activity of the nerve cells in the brain.
Unsafe: Avoid consuming alcohol with Amitar Forte Tablet as it is deemed unsafe.
Seek medical advice from your doctor: Amitar Forte Tablet is unsafe to use during pregnancy as there is definite evidence of risk to the developing baby. However, the doctor may rarely prescribe it in some life-threatening situations if the benefits are more than the potential risks. Doctor consultation is advised.
Seek medical advice from your doctor: Amitar Forte Tablet is probably unsafe to use during breastfeeding. Limited human data suggests that the drug may pass into the breastmilk and harm the baby.
Not Safe: Amitar Forte Tablet may cause side effects which could affect your ability to drive. As Amitar Forte Tablet may make you feel drowsy or affect your concentration and this may affect your ability to drive.
Safe when prescribed by an expert: Amitar Forte Tablet is probably safe to use in patients with kidney disease. Limited data available suggests that dose adjustment of Amitar Forte Tablet may not be needed in these patients. Doctor consultation is advised.

What if I forget to take it?
If a dose of Amitar Forte Tablet is missed, take it promptly. However, if your next dose is approaching, skip the missed dose and resume your regular schedule. Avoid doubling the dose.
