Azilsartan medoxomil and Chlorthalidone are used in the treatment of hypertension (high blood pressure).

How it Works

How Azilsartan medoxomil + Chlorthalidone works Azilsartan medoxomil + Chlorthalidone is a combination of two medications: Azilsartan medoxomil and Chlorthalidone, which effectively lower blood pressure. Azilsartan medoxomil is an angiotensin receptor blocker (ARB) that works by blocking the hormone angiotensin, thereby relaxing blood vessels. This relaxation allows blood to flow more smoothly and enables the heart to pump more efficiently. Chlorthalidone is a diuretic that removes excess water and certain electrolytes from the body. Over time, it also helps relax blood vessels and improve blood flow.

Side Effects

Common side effects of Azilsartan medoxomil and Chlorthalidone include dizziness, fatigue, and hypotension (low blood pressure).

Expert Advice

You have been prescribed Azilsartan medoxomil + Chlorthalidone for the treatment of high blood pressure.
It can be taken with or without food.
Azilsartan medoxomil + Chlorthalidone may cause dehydration. Drink plenty of fluids and inform your doctor if you develop:

Extreme thirst
Very dry mouth
Muscle weakness

It may cause dizziness. Get up slowly when rising from a sitting or lying position.
Use of Azilsartan medoxomil + Chlorthalidone during pregnancy or breastfeeding is unsafe.
It may also decrease the risk of stroke and heart attacks.
